The Bible tells us that God has given us each a measure of faith. What we do with it is what matters. We can leave it lie dormant and let it waste away or we can continue to use it and make it stronger. It can be likened to the parable of the talents, only substitute faith for talents. If we don't use it and build it up, we won't have the faith we need when the big trials come our way. God already knows how much faith you have in a given situation, but when we are tested we find out where we are lacking. Often, our circumstances show a different picture of our faith than what we believe about ourselves. ---- == Faith don't require sources or proofs. If you require sources or proofs, then faith is just an illusion. Quick reference Encarta Dictionary; = faith = faith [ fayth ] (plural faiths)

noun Definition: 1. belief or trust: belief in, devotion to, or trust in somebody or something, especially without logical proof

Faith is a gift that we receive from our Creator by GRACE. The Holy Spirit teaches that the faith to believe in Jesus Christ is "not of ourselves it is the gift of God lest any man should boast" God gives this ability to His elect children.

Faith and trust in God comes from within yourself. It is a fundamental essential for living a Christian life.

The first source is of course Jesus Christ Himself, His birth, life on earth in Israel, His death and glorious resurrection. The last event being the pivotal event of Christianity without which it would undoubtedly not exist, since, if Jesus did not truly rise from the dead then Christianity has no basis, except as myth. The only problem is that frightened and somewhat powerless fishermen do not suddenly change into fearless promoters of an event that did not happen. Nor can they concoct stories which appear to be different eyewitness accounts of the same event. If they concocted the whole thing, there would be much less variation, not more.

Thus we now have the second major source of Christianity, namely the reliable and credible eyewitness accounts of the early Christians, some of whom knew Jesus personally, others knew Him from the accounts of these reliable witnesses. Repeatedly the New Testament record has been found to be historically accurate and reliable, especially details in Luke's writings (Luke and Acts).

It is important to realize the great importance placed by the early Christians on what some call the 'Apostolicity' of New Testament writings. Works were not accepted unless either written by, or having the authority of an Apostle. Thus Papias states clearly that Peter was the primary source for Mark's Gospel and Jesus' mother Mary and others such as the Apostle Paul were sources for Luke.

Thirdly, if one is addressing the source of the power and vitality and the inspiration of Christianity, this springs from the personal involvement of the divine person of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers. This 'source' continues to this present day since true Christianity involves service of a living God. Such cannot be accounted for by mere religious observance, nor does it explain people's willingness to suffer persecution including torture, imprisonment and even death in such lands as China (even to this present moment while the interest on the Olympics hides it) Burma, Pakistan, Nigeria and Vietnam.
