Different regions of the country have very different rates for teen marriage. Teens in the South and West were more likely to have been married than those in the Northeast and Midwest, with the gap growing by age 18-19. Only 1.7% of 18-19 year olds in the Northeast had ever been married, compared to 6.1% in the South.
