If you are asking about a Honeywell T87 home thermostat with a Q539A sub-base this might help. With the stat. in cooling mode. the temp. in house will get to warm before A/C kicks on & it will get to cool in house before it turns off. If this is the problem the sub-base is bad. There is many more problems that can be caused by this stat. But this one is overlooked by many repairman. Changing Q539A will fix problem.
what are the symptoms of a bad thermostat on a 1997 Chrysler Sebring Lxi what are the symptoms of a bad thermostat on a 1997 Chrysler Sebring Lxi

One of the most common signs of a bad thermostat in a Subaru is the vehicle overheats. This is a sign that something is not working right with the thermostat. You may need a new one, or you may be able to repair the issue.
Car overheats or can't reached the normal temperature.
bad pcm, bad thermostat, bad starter, all sorts of problems it could be. what are the symptoms, without them, you can be helped.
Overheating or engine does not get warm enough. Replace any suspect thermostat. You can test one, but as you have to remove it to do so, just replace it.
There could be several symptoms. But the most common would be overheating with the water in the radiator staying cold. If the water in the radiator is hot, the thermostat is opening. If it takes a long time for the water to get hot, (heater takes a long time to warm up) the thermostat may be stuck open.
If it does not open - vehicle will overheat rapidly - no cabin heat If it does not close - vehicle will not get to normal operating temperature and therefore no heat
Thermostat is probably stuck in the open position or the system was not bled properly. Bleed the system properly and if it still exhibits the same symptoms, replace the thermostat. You may have purchased a bad new one.
If it is stuck closed, the engine will overheat. If it is stuck open, the engine will take a long time to reach operating temp.
No fuse for those symptoms. Could be low on coolant. Bad thermostat. Plugged heater core (my guess). Temp blend door problems.
If stuck closed--vehicle will overheat very rapidly and coolant will blow out of top of radiator If stuck open--vehicle will not get to normal operating temp.
