Poor throttle response and lack of low-end power(less than ussual) are the most common symptoms, and in worst cases, a high or wavering idle. The engine may also run hotter than ussual. It is most easily taken care of with a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the fuel tank. Generally, modern unleaded fuel and air filters are highly efficient, and these symptoms are more likely to be a failed/failing fuel injector or simply an unserviceable air/fuel filter.

This is probably a dirty throttle body. It should be removed and cleaned.
The throttle body on an engine houses the throttle, which controls the amount of fuel that enters the engine. It controls the engine's ability to maintain an idle, prevents stalling, and aids in acceleration. If the throttle body is dirty, it can cause problems with the engine running properly. During a standard service, sludge and carbon buildup out of the throttle body and off the throttle blade. The vehicle's computer is then hooked up to a special machine for an idle relearn procedure.
If the cable appears to be in good shape, a dirty throttle body can cause that.
