What are the symptoms of a ruptured ovarian cyst?

Answer:

Answer

An ovarian cyst can rupture during anytime of your menstrual cycle. When I have a cyst rupture I start feeling extreme discomfort in my pelvic region and almost a bloated feeling in my lower abdomen for a couple of days. The most common symptom is extreme pain on one side in your pelvic region. If you're worried that you have had a cyst rupture the best thing is to make an appointment to see your gyno and have an ultrasound done. Not only will they be able to see if a cyst did rupture but they will also be able to tell you if there are more cysts that need monitoring. When I had my first ultrasound done in the hospital (I had a cyst rupture and bleed into my abdominal cavity-the pain was so bad I thought I was dying) the doctors found 7 more cysts in addition to the one that had already ruptured. Good luck

*** This has happened to me as well. I had a 3x5 cyst burst and bleed into my abdominal cavity and literally I wanted to die. Come to find out it didn't totally burst because now it is 3x3. Great so it shrunk! It took me an hour to realize after it burst that I needed to seek immediate attention. I was doubled over in pain and this was the worst feeling I have ever had! Granted I have never had children or been pregnant. I hurt right behind my belly button like someone had stuck a poker through my belly button and started digging around in my stomach. They ran blood work, an ultra sound and after 8 hours in the ER they decided to admit me. The pain was so bad they hooked me up to an iv drip with narcotics. Today is 2 days later and I feel like I did some major workout time with my abs and I haven't done a thing. Having a cyst burst is very serious if you are feeling the things I described - with the bleeding in the abdominal wall - the blood needs to be reabsorbed into the body but it takes a while and you will definitely need some time off to rest and recoop.
