A lease is a binding contract. You could likely sue for "breach of contract", but there is probably a cancellation clause.
I suggest you seek out an agency called "Legal Aid". Most cities have them. They are typically low-cost or free. If you can't find them in the phone book, then call your local Human Services (welfare) office-they should be able to direct you to them. Ask for "Legal Aid". I know that some cities have specific tenant's rights legal aid agencies, as well. If you call Human Services, you might want to specify that you need "tenant's rights assistance".
At the very least, I'm sure you're entitled to a refund of all of your deposits.
Good luck!

Landlord and tenant law regulates everything from eviction, to tenant privacy rights, to the duties of both landlord and tenant.Laws regarding residential renting vary by region, but are commonly based off of the Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act, or URLTA, and/or the Model Residential Landlord Tenant Code. Landlord harassment, also known as tenant abuse, is the practice of a landlord abusing or exceeding his authority to intimidate his tenant, often to get his rent on time, increase the rent without notice, neglecting repairs, or otherwise infringing on tenant's rights. Many landlords get greedy or controlling over their tenants and use the threat of eviction or suddent rent increase to manipulate their tenants. Be especially wary of landlords who own fewer than four rental properties.
