Although I am not exactly sure, in my biology textbook, it says that there are four major parts that make up one nucleotide of DNA: thymine, adenine, cytosine, and guanine.
Each necleotide consists of a nitrogen base, sugar, and phosphate. So that would mean each nucleotide connects to its pair. Adnine with thymine, Cytosine with Guanine.
