I'm trying to put a timing belt on a 2000 Ford focus 2.0 liter with a DOHC. there are no timing marks on it in the traditional sense. the back side of the cams have a groove cut out that ford has a special tool that slides into them sorta like a straight edge. when the special tool is inserted the cams are in position for tdc for cylinder number 1. for the crank gear there is another special tool that you hook up to it that when attached the crank is at tdc for cylinder 1. i don't have the special tools and tried to set it up without the tools and the crank gear was off by a tooth and it was running all messed up (but running nonetheless). I'm bringing it to ford tomorrow. good luck hope this helps.
