According to a recent survey (March 2012) conducted by online buying assistant Sortable, Canon is the most popular camera brand with one-third of all consumers owning or seeking to own a Canon model. Consumers were split between DSLR and point-and-shoot with 36% favorable towards each, whole 22% sought mirrorless cameras and 6% liked other types.

∙ 11y agoI would say the camera that allows you to take the pictures you want. For some it would be a Sinar (at $40,000 not many will buy these at first), for others a shockproof Panasonic. I like Nikon cameras but cannot defend the expense of their best DSLR.
I would say Canon is the best type but Sony, Panasonic, ECT are good to. It depends what features your looking for. If you are looking for a camera that makes pictures not shaky then I would recommend Canon because their cameras also have 3 times optical zoom. But for zoom I would recommend Panasonic they have amazing zoom! For power I would recommend Sony. I love Canon the best because they tend to have all these just not as great.

No one company is the best as they each have different models with different features and price ranges. You just have to look through their camera offerings and see which one is best suited for you.

∙ 13y agopersonally i think that the best brand is sony and you need to make sure that your camera has high megapixels anywhere over 8.0 megapixels is good. I have a sony cybershot and it has 14.2 megapixels and you wont believe how good the pictures are.
