That's funny i just learned this today in school, they are North American plate,Eurasian plate, Pacific plate, Nazca plate, South American plate, African plate, Indian plate, Antarctic plate, and Australian plate.

Continental plates contain most of the world's land; oceanic plates are formed under the sea, and are both thinner and denser. As a result, oceanic crust tends to subduct (sink) below the continental crust wherever their boundaries meet.
