There were all types. Guilds were essentially monopolies. This means that, for instance, the blacksmithing guild would control all the all the blacksmiths. The guild would set guidelines for prices and the training of balcksmiths and everything else. they regulated a certain trade, basically, and if a trade could be regulated, there was a guild to do the job.
