Answer:
To evangelize means to preach about what the Bible calls th Good News of the Kingdom. While on earth Jesus went from villiage to villiage ad from house to house and taught people about a coming Kingdom (Luke 8:1)that would crush the Kingdoms/Governments of this world and replace them with one ruled by God through Jesus. (Daniel 2:44)
The commandment, and instructions on how to, evangelize where given by Jesus origionally to his 12 apostles, and later to 70 other disciples of his. (Mark 6:6-11) and (Luke 10:1-13). In Matthew 24:14 this 'door to door' preaching is given as a sign, as are wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes, and food shortages to identify when the last days had arrived. This preaching would continue, according to this prophecy, until the end comes.
Simply knocking on doors and talking about religious topics is not what is mentioned in these and the many other accounts the Bible. Th specific command was issued to 'Declare that the Kingdom of God' has drawn near. Teaching about that Kingdom, what its effects on this world will be, and that we should pray for it is what evangelizing is...(Matthew 6:9-10) "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name (Isaiah 12:2), let thy Kingdom come let thy will be done on EARTH (Psalms 37:29) as it is in Heaven...
