some of it's common uses are as food seasoning , for good safety to melt snow & ice , salt licks for cattle and for medicinal purposes . HALITE is also the most important ore of the elements sodium & chlorine.

1. Halite (Rock Salt) is used to melt ice. During snow storms, people spread rock salt on their walkways and drive ways to melt it easily.

2. It is also used in guns to hurt animals, not kill them (not very lethal)

3. Also used by public organisations to clear blockades on roads.
