What are you supposed to say in an Answer to Rule to Show Cause?

Answer:

Answer

You answer the Court as to why or why not you did not perform a certain act either ordered previously by the court or agreed to in a sitpulated agreement with another party. You show cause why you did not do the act. Yes, testimony is required and better yet, show the court a document trail. For example. Show Cause why you did not pay child support on a timely basis: I was unable to pay child support timely because I loss my job and have been trying to obtain alternate employment. Show termination letter from former employer, show proof that you have applied for unemployment or copies of applications where you have tried to obtain employment. Show cause is sometimes set when a parent defies a court order regarding custody. Like taking the child out of state without the consent of the other parent. Good Luck.
