What auto insurance is required in the United States of America?

Answer

Auto insurance laws in the United States vary by state. The majority of states require that you have a minimum amount of liability insurance. This insurance covers third party injuries and property damage when you are found at fault for an auto accident. The only states that do not have some sort of minimum insurance law is New Hampshire and Wisconsin.

In addition to liability coverage some states require PIP insurance and uninsured motorist insurance as well.
