First of all, before deciding what kind of doctor you will be, you have to get into medical school. This just requires an undergrad degree. Your undergrad (college) degree can be in anything you want as long as you take the required science classes while in college. I believe this is 2 semesters each of chemistry, Biology, calculus, organic chemistry, physics, and english. So as long as you have those classes you could do anything in college (psychology, drama, history, biology, biochemistry, english, math, etc). However, majoring in a science field especially biology will prepare you better for medical school than some other majors. You'll also have to take a test called the MCAT (medical college admission test) which covers biology, physics, chemistry, reading comprehension, and writing. This is a national test taken be all prospective medical students while in college.
Once you get into medical school then you decide what kind of doctor you want to be. In your fourth and final year of medical school you apply to a residency program. This determines what kind of doctor you will be one day. If you do a residency in obstetrics and gynecology you will have a 4 year reasidency and upon completion of that you can be an obstetrician.
THAT DOESNT ANSWER MY QUESTION!!!!! I WANT A STRAIGHT OUT FORWARD ANSWER!!!!
Fine. What that person was trying to tell you was for people who understand anything about obtaining a degree in medicine. For you, who has no idea what you're talking about, it means this:
You need an undergraduate degree, which is a bachelors degree, which is 4 years of school. You want something in the field of science [ie: chemistry, biology, or any of the sub-levels of those categories]. After that, you must apply to medical school, which should be about 2 years of classroom work, followed by a residency, which can take up to 4 years. All in all, about 10 years of school, is that a straight-forward enough answer?
thank you, this helped alot! :]
To be an obstetrician, a medical degree from an accredited medical school must be earned. A degree such as the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (D.O.), Doctor of Medicine degree (M.D.), or The Bachelor of Surgery/Bachelor of Medicine degree (MBBS/MBChB) must be earned along with a proper medical license. Residency training in obstetrics/gynecology must be completed and a physician must sit for board examinations and pass them successfully to become a board-certified obstetrician.
I heard you in UW you need a bachelor in science or in arts to become a doctor then you can get into a medical school i think I'm not sure.
You have to major in biology chemistry or health science
No, you need an M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) to be an Obstetrician/Gynecologist.
12 yrs
One can be either an Obstetrician or a Gynecologist ......or both.
A high IQ, combined with very strong study habits.
Any science class will be important.
im sorry I don't know that is what im trying to find out for school
Obstetrician/Midwife
If you want to study to be an obstetrician or gynecologist: you should be taking high level science and math courses. To be an ob/gyn you might have to take higher math and science classes. maybe like chemistry:)
You can become a OBGYN and specilaize in maternal/fetal medicine.
There was a obstetrician helping a lady to give birth
Obstetrician
If you mean how do you become an Obstetrician, you must graduate high school, get your Bachelor's Degree, and then go to Medical school. This is a great career but is long hours each week.
