Leopards are very adaptable. They are equally adept surviving in some of the world's most humid rainforests and even semi-arid desert edges. Populations thrive anywhere in the species range where grasslands, woodlands, and riverine forests remain largely undisturbed.
Leopard geckos live in a desert environment. Arid and dry with temperatures reaching up to 100F +. They have been able to adapt to their environment by having close able eyelids. Leopard geckos are a part of the Gekkoninae family or known as "eye lid" geckos or "true" geckos. This adaption allows the animals to burrow into the earth without having dirt and sand enter the eyes. Another adaption to their ecosystem or environment is their claws. They have fine nails at the end of each toe that allows them to scale rock surfaces and dig with ease.
