Ireland is completely surrounded by water, just West of the United Kingdom. There is the North Atlantic Ocean to the West and the Bay of Biscay to the South. The Irish Sea is to the East and there is more Atlantic Ocean to the North.

Ireland is an island on the eastern side of the Atlantic Ocean. To Ireland's east is the Irish Sea. There is also the North Channel, the Celtic Sea and St. George's Channel around Ireland. See the map in the related link below.

Rivers:

Shannon, Liffey, Lee, Lagan, Suir, Nore, Barrow, Foyle, Boyne, Slaney.

Lakes:

Ireland has many waterways. The largest lake is Lough Neagh. Other large lakes include Lough Derg, Lough Corrib, Lough Ree, Lough Erne and Lough Swilly. Ireland's longest river is the Shannon. Other important rivers include the Blackwater, the Lee, the Boyne, the Liffey, the Lagan, the Nore, the Suir amongst others. As Ireland is an island it also has many bays and inlets, especiallly on the west coast.
