The various types of Ethernet twisted pair cable. All categories of Ethernet cable (5, 5e, 6, and 6a (sometimes improperly called 6e)) have a maximum length of 100 meters (328 feet) as distances beyond that experience too much loss of signal to be useful for networking purposes.
Now having said this, the practical maximum length can be cut much shorter due to interference from high-voltage power lines, crimps or twists in the cable runs, or bad sections within the cable. As such, it is always best to test each run to insure that it is functional before relying on it in a production environment. Further, it is highly advisable to run a second cable when installing long cables so as to save time and hassle later in case one of the two cables either is bad or goes bad over time. In that case, it is a simple issue of terminating the second cable (if it hasn't been already) and getting back up and running. This is a common practice professional network engineers and electricians employ.
The differences in each of the categories of cable have to do with the frequencies of signal for which they are designed and, therefore, the maximum throughput speed that they can deliver. Specifically, the standards are:
Category 5: 100 MHz, 100 Mbps (Gigabit is possible but at shorter lengths only)
Category 5e: 100 MHz, 1 Gbps
Category 6: 250 MHz, 1 Gbps (10 Gbps is possible but at shorter lengths only)
Category 6a: 500 MHz, 10 Gbps
There are also cables allegedly labelled category 7 and 7a but they are not yet recognized by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and, therefore, are not mentioned further in this answer.
Cat 5/5e/6 cable has a maximum installed length of 100m, but that is a written standard, not an operational maximum.
18 inches (45cm)
longest i have seen in a store was 100ft but if you need longer get a roll of Ethernet cable and 3 ends for it then make your own length of cable.
100Base-T network require usually cat5 maximum of cable length 100 meters to 380meters.
The maximum length of a segment is usually 100 meters. In practice, it's a good idea to stay under 90 m for fixed cables, since patch cables at either end are likely to add another several meters to the overall length.
It should not exceed 75 meters in length. Use good quality patch-cord or network cable. Theoritically, a Cat5, Cat5e or Cat6 UTP Cable can be extended upto 100 meters, but minimum will be the best
1480 METERS
40 Pins and 80 wires. Maximum recommended length is 18" but can purchase 24" cables.
The current maximum length for a serial cable is around 50 meters. Different cables have length limits with the maximum varying.
maximum is 100 meters or 328 ft
10BaseT is another name for co-axial cable. It has a maximum cable length of 185 meters or 607 ft.
5 meters
5 meters
There are two different ways of looking at this. The maximum length from end to end from the telecommunications closet to the wor karea device is 100 meters. The horizontal cable itself is usually a maximum of 90 meters, with 10 meters maximum from the wall plate to the device in the work area.
For any Cat 5 cable, the maximum segment length is 100 meters per segment.
18 inches (45cm)
For printers, about 10 meters (depends on the printer). Have fun.
The maximum length of cable that can be used for SCSI-3 is 12 meters. This is applicable to Ultra2 Wide, Ultra 160, and Ultra 320.
