What food can't hamsters have?

Hamsters have a wide variety of food they can eat but also have some foods they should not eat. Hamsters generally eat dry foods but you can give them fresh food occasionally, if you give them too much fresh food they could get diarrhea or even wet tail. Try to provide fresh food once a week.

These are things which your hamster should not eat:

Fish(they can eat it but it makes them smell bad)

Sweets and candy are high in sugar

Junk food e.g chips, crisps too fatty

Avocado(can cause heart problems)

Almonds

Tomato leaves or flesh

Pips from fruits e.g apple

Raw potato, rhubarb, kidney beans

canned food

human chocolate

citrus fruits

watermelon

onions, leeks, garlic, chives and similar plants

eggplant/aubergine

Perhaps a better question is: "what CAN a hamster eat?" Hamsters will eat all kinds of vegetables and fruit, cereals, seeds and even dairy foods. They are omnivorous, and get protein from eating small insects and grubs, and their teeth benefit from crunching on the occasional hard dog biscuit. In their natural habitat, hamsters eat grasses, seeds and grains. because they are members of the rodent family, their teeth are continually growing, so they need hard items to wear down the teeth. Pieces of non-treated wood are good for them. Hamsters should not have canned fruit or vegetables, onion and garlic, potatoes that are sprouting and raw beans. They should also never be given chocolate or toffee, or similar sweets which could affect their teeth. They should not have foods that contain whole oats with the husks still on, as these can puncture their cheek pouches, which are quite sensitive. If you have a pet hamster and want to give it treats, it is far better to buy commercially prodcued specialty hamster treats which are designed for hamsters' metabolism and nutritional needs.

Ok nothing with lots of sugar like chocolate, candy, cookies, cake etc. Also spinach radish and stuff are bad for hamsters. They also shouldn't eat the curnals of popcorn.

they cant have any citris things.. such as LEMONS, LIMES <_> yeah
