Go to internet options in your control panel delete all cookies & temp files, if they get over loaded it will slow your computer down. If it still runs slow you may need to run the disc defragmenter. to do this go to your Start menu, click all programs, accessories, System Tools and run your disc defragmenter. Make sure that you turn off your screen savers and the desktop background if it changes automatically. If you don't it will stop the defragmenter every time it changes and cause the defragmenter to start over each time.

If you take off your start-up programs, it may help. On windows XP go to the start button, run and type in msconfig. At the top of the window there are tabs choose the tab that says start-up. Uncheck everything it will not harm your computer. Click apply then ok. It will tell you to reboot your computer when it reboots a window will appear that states "You are using selective start-up" there is a box in the middle of the window that says "Do not show this messge again" click that.
