Any pets like Cats, Dogs, etc...
We have had good luck in using mothballs to repel snakes around our home and yard in Arkansas. Replace as needed throughout the summer since rain and humidity will cause them to melt. People says carbolic acid repels snakes..But experimentation with same has prooven wrong.Since snakes are attracted to worm blooded prey lgphke Rodents & small mammals it is best to avoid them ,entering our houses,by destroying rodent holes(if any).In addition we should keep our houses(both external & internal )clean. As any unwanted things mis placed or unnecessary bushes could provide good hiding places for snakes. Answer 1 Thanks. But in what quantity and at what distance do you scatter the mothballs?
carbolic acid. I've been told that anything containing sulfur will deter them. There is a product at home improvement stores called " snake away" that seems to work for me in upper South Carolina.

Snakes are good at keeping mice, and rat populations down, as these are their fav foods. Mind you some snakes like eating other snakes.

i have herd of garden snakes eating dead insects but i dont think its true becuse they find it better alive.
That would depend on what you were trying to do. For keeping away birds, rubber snakes and owl figures may be purchased at many gardening stores. As a Halloween decoration, a mannequin can be a versatile alternative.
Snakes are usually solitary reptiles. However - they have been known to 'hibernate' in groups during the cold months in caves. Also they will seek each other out during the matins season - often resulting in many serpents 'chasing' one female.
