∙ 14y agoa sch II amphetamine might on a urine dip test, but if they run the GCGS (?) gas test, it will separate the meth d from the other, which is an i isonmer I think. I know the gas chromography will pick up the meth if its in you!!

∙ 12y agoI know of a woman that this happened to and I remember it had something to do with those sticks of pocket vicks inhalers. There is some ingredient in it that is something-meth-something...to long of a name for me to remember right off the top of my head, but it DID cause a false-positive.
AND they CAN test deeper to and tell the difference between the real thing and the other!

∙ 11y agoSeveral drugs can cause false positives in different categories on a standard drug test... such as any ephedrine containing product can show up as a positive for meth, so if you have been using weight loss/energy pills containing ephedrine or perhaps an Asthma drug containing ephedrine you may show positive for meth on your drug test. Basically, just be up front and tell the tester all of the OTC and prescription drugs you are taking and they will do further testing if necessary to rule out any street drug/illicit use.
Several over-the-counter medications such as common cold, allergy and sinus medications have been known to cause false positive drug tests. Ibuprofen in any form sometimes causes a false positive for marijuana use. Cold remedy medications with codeine have caused a false positive for use of morphine. Other medications to be aware of include Nyquil, Triaminic, Primatene, Bronkotabs, Vicks-44, Benadryl, Alka-seltzer plus, Contac, Sinuntab and Sudafed.

What substance could make a drug test come back positive for methamphetamine's?
Erowid.org has a list of all the substances that can throw a false positive for meth. It is a VERY long list--probably 80 different drugs including diet aids, cold pills and a lot of prescription medicines. Meth is a phenethylamine-class drug AND an amphetamine-class drug, so any drug that looks like an amphetamine, or any drug that looks like a phenethylamine (and there are a BUNCH of these, most not being any fun at all) will trigger a false positive for meth. It gets better: the first order metabolite of meth is amphetamine, so anything that will throw a false positive on an amphetamine test will also throw a false positive on a meth test. That having been said, most people don't test for meth at all--they look for amphetamine because methamphetamine (amphetamine with a methyl group attached) demethylizes in the liver quickly.
