Plasma TVs can get burn-in images (especially when playing video games on them), they get hotter than LCD TVs do, they don't work so well in higher altitudes, and generally have a shorter life span.

A 6" thick line running top to bottom can appear on your plasma and never come off.The repair shop will charge at least $150 just to look at it and hundreds of dollars afterwards. Always get a warranty. they usually fail within the first 2 years.

Plasma TV's are usually rated at 60,000 hrs to half life. That mean if you watch tv 8 hours a day it would take over 20 years to decrease the life span of your plasma. Old CRT tube TVs we're typically rated at 10000 -15000 thousand hours. Early generation plasmas had a tendency to have image retiention, but modern plasmas no longer have that problem. If your looking for a TV that has better black levels, higher contrast ratios, better viewing angles, better color reproduction, get a plasma TV. Plasmas in higher altitudes somethimes has a ringing noise but you have to get higher than 8000ft usally. I was a CEDIA convention in Denver and I heard no buzzing sound from any of the plasma booths.
