What can you do if your 17-month-old throws up every time she cries? |
Answer
Oh my we went through this! My daughter is turning 5 and is now through this! We had to stop her from crying, sounds hard I know! I found reminding her she was going to make herself sick, reminding her to breath in, helped! I didn't give into this though, sometimes she would just get so upset is what caused her to get sick. We just continued to be firm, and remind her to not get so upset ... of course daddy counted to 3 to stop the crying ... that helped her too actually.
Answer
I have baby sat many kids but the worst was one who would cry until she threw up. It turned out that the milk she was drinking was making her sick and the crying initiated her gag reflex. Try to get her to the bathroom every time so she starts to realize what happens when she gets upset. Talk to your pediatrician. If you have lactose intolerance in your family, definitely look into that possibility!
