What can you eat on a low carbohydrate diet?

Answer:
  • Eat fat burning foods on a low carbohydrate diet.

  • Think about what you need to avoid, first -- think white! White flour, cereals sugar, rice, and potatoes. Also, avoid anything that satisfies the sweet tooth too much such as bananas and dried fruit. Oranges are also high in carbohydrates. Lean protein is excellent, whole grain breads/pasta strictly limited. Low carbohydrate non-starchy vegetables are also allowed on a low carbohydrate diet. Look at the glycemic index and avoid foods with a high number.

  • Avoid all refined (processed) carbohydrates. Refined carbohydrates are a major cause of weight gain and obesity. Eat quality protein and low carbohydrate fresh (preferably organic) non-starchy vegetables and low carb fruits such as berries.
