I confirm that prawn is used in Britain when shrimp would be used in the US (or most other places). But prawn/shrimp roe is in fact not only edible, but is considered to be a delicacy, as mentioned in the recipe to which I am providing a web link. I can personally confirm that it is quite tasty, though a little fiddly/messy.
Another "yes" vote. I just bought some fresh Alaskan prawns (in Seattle) and since I wanted the bigger ones, which are female, all were packed with eggs. Before grilling them, I nibbled the eggs off, and they were delicious. The flavor was not strong. I'm not sure they would be very good if cooked.
Prawns go well with citrus fruit. They also adapt to Mexican, Asian, and Mediterranean recipes very nicely. They're better with rice or pasta than with potatoes. They are added to soups and seafood stews. They compliment tomatoes, squash, green beans, peas, bok choy, lemon grass, and onions. Cooked and chilled prawns are wonderful in salads with a citrus or ginger dressing. They can be marinated in teriyaki and grilled along with vegetables. They're a good "surf" portion of a steak & seafood "Turf & Surf." You can butterfly-cut prawns and broil with butter and garlic.
Yeah, as long as they're cooked properly, I see no problem in it.

Prawn are mostly eaten by fish. They are a great source for bait.
You are perfectly able to have ice cream after prawns. There are no limits to when you are and are not allowed to follow-up your seafood meal with a frozen desert. That said, you may not want to mix the flavors.
