If you are talking about the iPhone, then no. The unlocked iPhone will ONLY be able to run on GSM networks, such as AT&T, in the US. It will not run on CDMA craaiers, such as Verizon or Sprint. This goes for all 3 2012 current iPhone models: iPohne 3GS, iPhone 4, and iPhone 4S. It may also apply to other phones ( e.g. the nexus line of phones, and the htc one S/X

∙ 14y agoAn unlocked phone basically supports all carriers, it has no restrictions whatsoever as far as the carrier is concerned. You can simply insert your existing sim card into the unlocked phone, and it should work fine.
