What cause this phase change refer to heat?

Answer:
The first law of thermodynamics expresses that energy can be transformed, i.e. changed from one form to another, but cannot be created or destroyed. For instance, if heat is taken out of a system the lost energy can be used to form the molecular bonds in a crystalline structure such as ice instead of lowering the relative temperature of the system.
