What caused the baby boom after World War II?

Answer:
The baby boom began when all the soldiers returned from World War II. As you can imagine, the men had been without sex for awhile, so upon their return to the states, they proceeded to find wives and girlfriends (or returned to wives and girlfriends) who were willing to help them with their problem. This resulted in many pregnancies.
