What causes Burning pain and pressure at top of stomach when swallowing? |
This could be a sign of gastric reflux which can become more serious if not treated. I had this pain and pressure throughout all three of my pregnancies, took over the counter tums/rolaids etc, and assumed it was the pressure of the baby growing and would resolve after delivery.
About 6 or 7 years after delivery of the last child, I was diagnosed with Barrett's Syndrome. This was caused by the acid reflux eating away at the lining of the esophagus. This leaves the esophagus at high risk for cancer.
