Your tongue could tingle as a result of an allergy. Have you eaten anything you normally don't? Remember that your nose and sinuses are all tied to your mouth and tongue as well. Have you been around any unusual animals or plants? Your tongue is a muscle and can get tired too. If you've been talking a lot, or holding your tongue in a specific manner for a long period of time, it might just be tired. Try relaxing your jaw and toung for a while and see if that helps. Without additional symptoms, I would say that's the most likely cause. Other causes could be neurological problems (things affecting the nerves and matter of the brain and spine), which could include any kind of neuropathy, or condition affecting the nerves. Those are much more serious, however. If you have no other symptoms, I'd check with your doctor. If it is safe for you to take an antihistimine, like Benadryl or Claritin (which is now over the counter) I would. If you're not having any congestion--no Claritin-D or Benadryl-D unless you need the decongestant. Also, decongestants can make your blood pressure go up, so make sure you check with a doctor before taking medication--but especially make sure to do so if you have any cardiovascular conditions like high blood pressure or heart disease.

What causes the tongue to twitch? My husbands tongue used to do that alot. I haven't noticed it in a long time. I was wondering if crack cocaine causes it. He used to do that before we were married.

Can a compressed nerve in neck cause hand tremors?

Hand tremors result from problems with the motor or movement coordinating centers of the brain, primarily the cerebellum and the basal ganglia. An isolated pinched nerve should not result in a hand tremor. However, this nerve compression may result in pain radiating from your neck to your arm and hand, numbness, pins & needles, weakness, shrinking or atrophic muscles, and reduced reflexes. However, there is the theoretical possiblilty that a dysfunction in the neck joints and muscles can cause a deficit in joint position sense or proprioception that could result in a deficit in the cerebellar function, causing a tremor that would occur with intended movement.

Does hyperthyroidism cause flu like body pain?

Hi, Yes it does. My most irritating symptom is severe back and neck pain. Other symptoms are sweating, racing heart, hand tremors , diarrhea and fatigue. I knew that it was not the flu because of the irregular heart beat and the hand tremors, but for me the pain was very bothersome until I was treated for the hyperthyroidism. Hope that helps.
