What causes a car to shake at low speeds? |

Answer
Well, You'll have to probably spend a littlemoney to find out, but I can give the typical causes and things you can check for. Here are the items that I have seen a shake at low speeds: A bad tire, a loose wheel, a loose tie rod end, a bent rim, (tire balance at higher speeds), a piece of rust or whatever caught between the rim and brake rotor, or between the brake rotor and hub. Did you have anything done before this happened or did it just start out of the blue or did it gradually come on? I have also seen on the caravans a broken sway bar, although I don't remember if it caused a shake. Anyway they are hollow and usually break right at the bushing that holds them to the frame. You can maybe save money by setting the truck up on jack stands, keeping the front wheel off the ground. With one person watching the wheel and another accelerating it you may be able to identify a wobble in a wheel. Just because they were balanced doesn't mean the tech had the presence of mind to pay attention to what was going on. If you find a tire with a wobble, get another one on it to eliminate it. Look for the wheel that has more weights than normal, it is somtimes a flag as to the problem tire, if it is a tire.
