This is called water hammer. Water is heavy, and when it is moveing through a pipe it will have water flowing from a point that could be some distance away. A 1.5" pipe that is 20 feet long will have 1.8 gallon of water or about 15 pounds of water. All the water in this line is now moving to the open faucet. Water does not compress so the 15 pounds of moving water has no were to go and can act like a rod of steel hitting your pipes. It is common for a small device that has air in it to be installed in the piping. This will give the water an air spring as air can be compressed. You could just put in a dead end T with some pipe standing straight up with a cap on it. Waterman

Plumbing top-out is the stage of plumbing that occurs when a home is in its frame stage. There are three stages of plumbing typically in construction. Plumbing rough (prior to the foundation being poured); plumbing topout (bringing ground plumbing up through the vents); plumbing trim (installing fixtures).
Who is knocking at the door
There are actually 27 tapes used in plumbing depending on the application and medium being used
Most likely your motor is low on oil and is knocking from being over heated.
it's probably a rod knocking
Engine knocking can be caused by numerous things. Having the incorrect spark plugs, carbon deposits on the cylinder walls, and being low on engine oil may all cause a knocking sound.
your car being broke get it checked out
You probably have two problems. The first one being a faulty oil pressure switch that causes the oil pressure to give a false high reading. The knocking problem could be caused by worn main bearings or worn rod bearings. I have also experienced knocking sounds caused by a worn timing chain and/or a loose torque converter. Hope this helps you.
The door was being knocked at by some body.
are you sure the noise is coming from the transmission. most cars will make a knocking sound due to the lifters being a little stuck. to see if it is a lifter noise, at the net oil change use a qt of lucas oils. there will be one that says something about lifter noises on the front, found at any parts store
The knocking noise is commonly called spark knock. The knock can be called by the engine timing not being set correctly, or using gas that has too low of an octane for the engine.
