Knocking as opposed to pinging or ticking, usually means seriously worn bearings of some sort. Time for an overhaul.
check oil level. go to engine shop.
When you accelerate. you are putting presure on the main engine barrens. if they are going bad. You will hear this knocking sound. I don't know how many miles you have on this engine. But that's what it sounds like. But that's not all that can make this sound. You will have to tell more about it and when it started. Did it just start all at once? or did it start and then get louder?
If it's knocking when accelerating, the engine could be starving for the correct octane fuel ... try the mid-grade or premium fuel and see if it still occurs. Could also be that the timing belt needs to be adjusted/replaced. If the knocking sounds like metal on metal, chances are you are in for a bigger bill for a possible engine rebuild. At any rate, have it checked out by a mechanic soon.
SOUNDS LIKE THE ENGINE IS OVERHEATING, HOW OLD IS IT ??? ARE ANY OF THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS ON??? COULD ALSO BE THAT YOUR PLUGS NEED BADLY TO BE CHANGED , YOUR GETTING SPARK NOCK, DOES IT DO IT WORSE WHEN YOUR GOING UP HILL AND TRYING TO ACCILERATE??? WHAT YEAR AND WHAT MAKE??? ASK THE QUESTION AGAIN WITH MORE INFORMATION.
many many things, Loose lug nuts which lets wheel make knocking noise. Engine will make a knocking noise if it is really low on oil. Some timing belts make a knocking, slapping noise just before they break. These are just a few examples . Have someone ride in car with you as you duplcate the noise and see if they can determine which part of the vehicle it is coming from.
Engine oil does not cause a engine knock. It is caused by pre-ignition, which can have many causes, including the wrong grade of fuel octane. Make sure that you are choosing the correct fuel for your vehicle. You may want to take the vehicle to a mechanic, as engine knocking can seriously damage your engine.
When it makes that noise it is either because your reving it to high or just because your engine is goin

Chatter is a verb that means:to talk in a quick or casual wayto make clicking sounds by knocking together rapidlyto make fast and usually high-pitched sounds
Having a bad rod bearing could cause a truck to make a loud knocking noise and shake when driving at high speeds. The engine having a coolant leak or an engine timing problem could also cause the knocking noise.
it's probably a rod knocking
