There are many ways to kill a Betta. The most common cause of death in Bettas however is owner ignorance caused by pet shops giving wrong and misleading information and then supplying a tiny little container that has no filter, heating, or sufficient oxygen to support life. Bettas will not do well in a tank any smaller than 5 gallons nominal.
