A dappled horse is like a horse with patches or spots of colour on it. Some horses are just brown, grey, black etc, dapple is just another colour variation. The horse would usually be white with grey spots/patches on it.Usually found on the horses hind or back legs.

No, it dosen't. A dapple is the color of a horse, like a Dapple Grey for example. Dapples are like darker circles. For example, a Dapple Grey would have a main gray body, but with darker flecks of gray.

The color "silver dapple" or "silver black" is caused by the silver gene. This gene only acts on bay- or black-based horses, and does not affect chestnut pigment. It lightens the mane and tail, and often causes faint dapples.

A similar gene that acts on chestnuts is the flaxen gene, which does essentially the same thing.

Dapple grey is a colour. Horses are born with it. Nothing causes it. However, they can loose their dapples and get whiter with age.

Dapples are a color variation most commonly seen on grey horses. They are circular in shape and will usually fade as the horse grows older to a more uniform grey color.
