Have you checked to see if the elect. fan comes on ?
A bad heater blower motor resistor would effect one or more blower speeds other than high.
There are no wind speeds to discuss on Mercury, since there is no atmosphere there.
Probably the blower motor speed resistor is partially burned out.
the heater fan resister,it is or should be on inside or on outside heater box.
Not enough oil or a spanner in the works.
Need to know the year and make, It would help answer.
I had one of these on a 1991 Wrangler and if I remember correctly it had 3 speeds. i currently have a 92 and it dose have 3 speeds
There is no wind because Mercury has no significant atmosphere.
That usually means the engine is lean. Could be a vacuum leak.
Heater blower resistor is what controls the low medium high speeds...
On the Ford 4.0 liter OHV , V6 engine the PCM starts cutting the fuel back at 5200 RPM in order to protect the engine when it is IN GEAR I believe it does it at 3000 RPM when there is no load on the engine ( park / neutral ) ( if that is what you mean by high speeds )
