There are many different things that causes low neutrophils. Some of these things include cancer, congenital disorders, viral infections, autoimmune disorders, and certain drugs that can damage bone marrow.

An increase in the levels of neutrophils or neutrophilia is commonly caused by bacterial infections. Although inflammation, burns and malignancy (Chronic Myeloid leukemia) can also increase it.
