It depends on what type of land form. For example, a mountain forms by plates under the surface moving and overlapping, causing the crust to be raised. The last answer was "Nothing" which is dumb. Everything is caused by something!

A number of reasons, ranging from plate tectonics (earthquakes) to erosion and deposition and even eruptions, can generate and affect landforms. Biological reasons can also influence landforms- for example, note the role of vegetation in the development of dune systems and salt marshes, and the work of corals and algae in the formation of coral reefs.
