if you dont fertilize your plants- use miracle grow about every other week or every week. if you fertilize your plants too much your plants will turn yellow from the pH of your water also. fertilizer is supposed to help balance that. buy some pH testing strips, you can buy them in the pool sections for testing pool water. do some research to find out what kind of pH your plant likes and adjust accordingly

If its the basal leaves of the plant (the ones nearest the bottom of the plant), then it is normally symptomatic of over watering or root damage.

Yellowing leaves can also be caused through cold, air conditioning or nutrient deficiency; although the prime candidate is over watering
