I have researched all over the internet for the answer to this question. While I think it has no easy explanation, I seriously feel that many people, doctors included, do not take this matter very seriously.

The majority of responses I see are "drink more water...hydrate yourself...don't ejaculate so often..." etc. I feel these answers are more than absurd and, further, slightly disrespectful.

This is a serious matter for us men, who have watched semen flow from the heads of our penises for years or even decades, the same color, the same texture, the same consistency. Now, all of a sudden, it comes out thick, or tinted, or clumpy. We search this world wide network of respected professionals and experts, all the medical and health websites, only to be told to "drink more water."

In my case, I have even seen a doctor, and he tells me there's nothing wrong with me, even though my testicles are so tender after ejaculation that sometimes I cannot touch them.

What we men would like to see is someone take our question and our concern seriously, and please provide us with a serious answer, or a series of links where we can find serious information.

Answer: This question is often brushed aside as dehydration or some other equally vacuous response. While dehydration may play an important role, many men find that this happens when no other changes in lifestyle or diet have taken place.

There may be several explanations, including dehydration or infrequent ejaculation, but one common, but overlooked, cause is low testosterone. Men do not often put these symptoms together, but viscous or clumpy semen is often asscociated with a lowered production of male hormones. Other symptoms may include weight gain, reduced mucle tone and strength, low energy, and mild irritability. There are many good sources of information on the web for low testosterone, and seeking symptom profiles there may shed more light on a potentially more systemic problem.

Is it normal for your period to be clumpy thick and dark?

Yes, it's normal for your period to be clumpy and thick. Your period isn't just blood but also uterine cells, uterine tissue, discharge, and mucus, so on heavier days when there is more tissue present it will look thicker and mucus can also thicken up flow too. As long as you're using correct menstrual products to deal with it you're fine, and as long as there is no bad odour everything is healthy.
