Let it run its course if it is from food or licking medicine. I just went through this with my cat who licked some ringworm medicine off his skin. The vet said to leave him be. I did take a cold, wet rag and wipe his mouth and face when it was over. It really is quite traumatic--especially if you don't know what it's from. It's usually a bitter taste thing. Do not give him water during the foaming or try to spray out his mouth. This can make it go into his stomach and make it worse. If your pet is sick/experienced trauma and it is foaming, you should call your vet/animal emergency.

This is my question but I have found my cat with a toad and I read they foam and drool from toads...but how long does it last? I was scared it was rabies but he hasn't any symptoms but drool once in awhile, it isn't constant. He seems a little tired but he eats and plays. It has been almost 24 hours and I fed him and he started drooling again.

If the white foamy mucus is coming from the cat's mouth, it is likely excessive salivation due to stress or a toxic substance being eaten - depending on which is more likely, you may need to take your cat to a vet immediately.
