White smoke from a diesel engine could be normal when it is very humid and cold, the engine is cold, the glow plugs are not working to their full potential as long as the white smoke is not excessive. It also could be an indication of a head gasket sealing problem. Most will not leak after running a while, due to extreme cylinder pressure. After the engine rests with combustion pressure in the coolant system, the coolant can work it's way back into the cylinders through the failing gasket sealing surface. If this happens and causes a hydro lock condition. Combine that with a high torque diesel starter and you may need a rebuild or possibly a new engine assembly. So make sure that your coolant level is full, and is not dark in color or smells like diesel exhaust (smells like a weird spice in the coolant, almost like someone put black pepper and gunpowder in it).
Answer 2White smoke is from unburnt fuel or moisture in the combustion chamber. It could also be the EGR cooler. It supposedly can leak enough antifreeze into the cylinder to lock the engine down. It probably needs to be addressed immediately. The cause of white puffing smoke in a diesel is the crack pipe ventilator seal. Fix that it keeps the crack inside.
usually a blown head gasket (most all the time white smoke on a a diesel engine means antifreeze in the combustion chamber)
White smoke at start up is due to moisture in the exhaust or on a diesel it can be normal due to the engine being cold.White smoke at start up is due to moisture in the exhaust or on a diesel it can be normal due to the engine being cold.
In a diesel engine, blue smoke is an indication of oil being burned. Black smoke means that there is incomplete combustion of the fuel. White smoke can be seen when raw diesel fuel is not being burned.
Injectors, timing, low cylinder pressure.
in a diesel engine, no power and blowing white smoke, indicates a bad turbo on the engine
You can drive a diesel engine, or any other type, blowing any colour smoke you wish. Though it is pretty foolish to smoke
there may be leakage in your coolant water cap at the time of starting vibration causes water to escape from it entering in to the engine causes white smoke
water
corsa 1.5 diesel lumpy at start up with white smoke from exhaust returning to normal after a couple of minuets
Moisture in the exhaust, or a cold running engine.
Usually white smoke is the result of a cold engine. After the engine warms up, the white smoke should disappear. Faulty injector spray patterns are another common problem.
