Typically caused by infected cut on tastebud. Tastebuds are typically cut by the teath especially if you have a crossbite.

Answer

sometimes salty foods will do this to you

Answer

This is usually caused by bacteria or fungus. However, in most cases its usually mouth ulcers which have appeared on the tongue or a mouth yeast/thrush infection. Viral illnesses can also play a part in this. See your Doctor if bothersome or doesn't clear up.

Answer

Usually the Ph level of the body is out of whack. Acidic foods can cause this such as lemons, limes, grapefruit, some sauces, etc. It's best to have it checked out by your doctor.

Answer

Commonly overlooked, its a result of eating foods that, temperature wise are too hot and cause a minor burn to the top of your tongue. Much like a splash of hot water to the skin causes irritation and minor inflammation for a few hours, this is the same story with your tongue and may take a little longer for the taste buds to reduce in inflammation. Nothing really to worry about. I have a few at the moment ( a result of too many hot teas )..

Another answer and remedy:

Think of this as though it is a pimple on your skin, but on your tongue instead. It can be from any irritation that triggers a blister - spicy food, too many sweets, acidic tomatoes, Mexican hot salsa, etc. Usually when people are researching this item, they are looking for a cure. Mine might sound bizarre, but I treat these blisters like a hang nail, and snip them off with nail clippers. It only hurts for a second, but the relief is immediate. Most folks come looking for a cure on websites after they have been miserable for days. Try this, and you will never have to suffer with prolonged tongue sores any more. DoctorMom

Answer

Im a medical student and from what I know using a Nail clipper is most likely not the best approach. Nail clippers harbor a lot of infectious agents that live under nails. Nails are notorious for carrying different bacterial and fungal infectious organisms.

Answer

That's interesting. I'm not sure how I arrived at clipping them off with nail clippers but I too started doing that many years ago (I thought I was crazy, but I see someone else had that idea too lol). It really does provide immediate relief. Now that I'm a nurse I can't necessarily say that this is the best thing to do but it certainly works and I can't seem to find an alternate cure. However, I make sure to soak the clippers in alcohol or hydrogen peroxide first

(as the med student said: nail clippers harbor all kinds of bacteria). You can even use a topical numbing agent that's meant for oral use, like Ambesol.

Answer:

I have some on my tongue right now. Not really sure exactly what caused them but I have found two different forms of relief/remedies. I chew on a lot of ice to help numb the pain and reduce the swelling. I already have a lisp so the swelling on the tip of my tongue makes it worse, I found the ice has helped a great deal. I also found that putting a bit of honey on the inflamed taste buds relieves some of the pain and seems to make them go away faster. Putting honey on it though can be quiet tricky since your saliva constantly is washing it away. These are just some ideas tho.

I use clove oil applied directly to the problem area

Well, it can be many things. One thing is thrush.. it's a yeast infection in the mouth. I know it sounds nasty but it really isn't. Try eating yogurt, that helps. Or gargle with antifungal mouthwash. Hope my answer helps you!

Why do I get a bump on my tongue when I'm constipated?

People who suffer from regular constipation have white bumps on their tongue. These white bumps are actually sores that develop over a period of time due to a weak digestive system. When the stools are not regularly passed or if the bowel movements are very difficult, it causes the body to heat up. Once body gets heated up, it results in soreness of the mouth and tongue eventually resulting in white bumps. This problem automatically vanishes when the constipation problem is resolved.
