The major differences is the amphibians need for water;
Amphibians must lay their eggs in water (and usually have a fish-like youth stage [tadpoles]) and often need to keep their skin wet in order to "breath" through it
(that is, their lungs are not sufficiently developed to supply all the oxygen needed for their needs.)
The similarities is in their basic anatomy.
1- Their classification:
- Kingdom= Animalia.
- Phylum= Chordata.
- Subphylum Vertebrata (Craniata), vertebrates mean animals with backbones.
P.S: (They stop til here with their similarities in their classification, after that they differ.
2- Are grouped together in a category known as (Herpetiles)= The study of Amphibians and repltiles.
3- They are (Ectothermic)= means This means that they don't generate their own body heat, but they get their body heat from their surroundings.
4- Both reproduce by laying eggs.
5- They are cold-blooded vertebrates
Amphibians have gills and live in water as young, and develop lungs and move onto the earth later. Reptiles are equipped with lungs from birth.
one lives in the water
They both have only one stomach, and primarily pertain to the differences in digestive systems between mammals, not avians, reptiles or amphibians. Ruminants have a four-chambered stomach, whereas non-ruminants have a simple stomach.
It smells lilike feet
Lizards are reptiles. While some reptiles may be just as happy (if not happier) in the water as out of it (crocodiles, alligators, turtles, snakes), amphibians are biologically adapted to aquatic living (salamanders, frogs, toads). Among the more striking differences between reptiles and amphibians is their skin; reptiles have tough scales where amphibians do not - amphibians tend to produce a mucous layer to keep their skin moist (slimy).
the variable skink is a reptile
