What charity devoted to helping the poor and hungry is best and why? |

Answer
The best way to determine this is to ask if they have Administration Fees (should be no more than 10%) and if they do have Administration Fees and it's over 10%, don't give! Most good charities are run by volunteers who do not get paid. 100% of all money, food, clothing and toys goes to those in need. By paying Administration Fees sometimes a great deal of the donation can go to Directors, CGAs, employees, etc.
In Canada I found out that only 19% of donations for Mother's Against Drunk Drivers went to help the victims families. Not good enough! I also found out that other charity organizations didn't even know what their Administration Fees were so I refuse to give to those or any charity that has an Administration Fee over 10%. After all, we are giving our hard earned money to those in need.
We have SHARE that helps the needy with clothing, food, toys at Xmas, etc., and my husband and I write them out a good-sized check because for every $1 they can get $3 worth of goods from stores. I give to Pet Network instead of our SPCA because Pet Network has no Administration Fees and is run by volunteers whereas the SPCA has not only high Administration Fees, but also is Unionized here. I will give food, toys and blankets to the SPCA, but no cash.
