What subjects do you need if you want to become a film director?

Anyone can be a film director if they have a vision and access to a camera. Get some actors together and go shoot. There's nothing they can teach you in some college that you can't learn from trying things out on your own and getting a Netflix account.

∙ 16y agounless you attend an arts magnet, you're regular course work should be fine, but you would want to seek out things like Photography, art history, anything that would allow the study of cinematic arts. You could use a good understanding physics as well as geometry, etc. to help visualize spaces and scenes. You will also want to get involved with whatever dramatic arts program there is and see if you can direct or asst. direct productions, etc. You won't really start on specific director work until college unless you are lucky enough to go to a high school with those sort of programs already.

∙ 16y agoYou can get a degree in journalism, media, film, communications etc. Just remember that while you earn your degree, you can earn money working in tv. Read the articles to see what I mean. Hope this helps.

∙ 14y agoYou can become a movie director at any time / age etc. You can make a 5 minute "film" about you and your pet and become a "director", its just about being known and getting your films out there!

∙ 13y agoYou need to be creative so probably some art/drama classes if not both. Also you will need to be able to DIRECT people so make sure you are good with public speaking and agressive.
