If you aspire to become an Executive Chef at a country club, private club, hotel chain, etc. you are going to need at least a Bachelor's Degree and certification. (C.E.C. - Certified Executive Chef).
Many Chefs in that arena are C.M.C - Certified Master Chef
The salary potential is greater as well.

At the very least, a successful Chef needs math skills, personnel management skills, food safety certification, and extensive experience with international cuisines.
