The nape, shoulders and back of cheetah cubs are thickly covered with long bluish grey hair. This downy underlying fur, called a "mantle", gives them a Mohawk-type appearance; this fur is shed as the cheetah grows older.

When a new born is brought in to life the new born as a light fur!. When it gets older it has dark fur.

A cheetah cub has normally just been born and is probably not fully developed, the cub is less likely to have spots so a cheetah cub would probably just be a shade of yellow
